Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should demonstrate the ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour
- The candidate should be able to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, preferably possess or be currently pursuing a B.Sc.N and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- The candidate should have a Forensic Nursing course and knowledge of risk assessment techniques, excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse inter-professional team
- The candidate should have effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills, computer literacy, bilingualism (French and English) and/or proficiency in a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to liaise with other services in the Program and community agencies to coordinate care for clients, utilize critical thinking, a problem-solving process, and customer service in their approach to care and service delivery, work with clients from diverse populations
- The candidates should be able to contribute to program development, participate in clinical supervision, participate in the Unit risk management program, provide educational support and supervision to students and participate in the research activities of the program
- The candidates should be able to facilitate groups, make behavioral observations, perform assessments, including physical and mental status assessments, monitor patients’ responses to pharmaceutical and other care interventions
- The candidates should be able to document and maintain ongoing communication with other team members, participate in the preparation of ORB reports and collaborate with other team members on an ongoing basis
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of crisis prevention and intervention, recovery-oriented approaches, forensic psychiatry, risk assessments, trauma-informed care, culturally competent care, severe and persistent mental illness, and concurrent disorders
- The candidates should have sound knowledge of clinical and risk management services for adults under the jurisdiction of the ORB
- The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and monitor risk management plans and ensure compliance with the ORB disposition
- The candidates should be able to perform assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate inter-professional client-centered care plan
