Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing or some other specialty relevant to the position
Experience: Candidates should have experience in providing nursing care to a variety of persons experiencing mental health issues in a community mental health setting

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in working with concurrent disorders
  • The candidates should have experience in delivering presentations and facilitating groups
  • The candidates should have experience in providing various modalities of psychotherapy, including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing
  • The candidates should be willing and able to work occasional overtime
  • The candidates should be willing and able to occasionally travel
  • The candidates should be willing and able to work flexible hours
  • The candidates should have the ability to provide evidence-based recommendations
  • The candidates should have the ability to gather and analyze information to influence treatment and outcomes
  • The candidates should have the ability to prioritize tasks and environment

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience in completing biopsychosocial assessments
  • The candidates should have experience in providing counseling, psychotherapy, and nursing interventions to patients with mental disorders and psychosocial difficulties
  • The candidates should have experience in working with clients in individual and group settings
  • The candidates should be capable of demonstrating integrity and respect and show initiative and be action-oriented
  • The candidates should be able to think things through, work effectively with others, and should have strong communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work for the Department of National Defense and provide care to members of the Canadian Armed Forces as part of an interdisciplinary care team working in a patient-centered outpatient clinical environment
  • The candidates should be able to focus their practice on providing individual and group therapy to promote mental health and for the treatment and management of mental disorders
  • The candidates should be able to provide care through the development of therapeutic relationships
  • The candidates should be able to complete biopsychosocial assessments as part of their responsibilities
  • The candidates should be able to administer and monitor therapeutic interventions, such as behavioral and interpersonal therapy
  • The candidates should be able to effectively manage crisis situations
  • The candidates should be able to provide psycho-education to patients and offer medication teaching as required
