Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should be a registered Nurse
Experience: Candidates should have minimum three years experience and demonstrated extensive knowledge and applied clinical skills in working with older adults with various neurocognitive impairments, mental health, substance use, and other neurological conditions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • The candidates should have demonstrated knowledge of mental health issues in the elderly population
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of consent and capacity issues and legislation involving this population, including the Public Guardian Trustee, Substitute Decision Maker Act, Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, and Long-Term Care Act
  • The candidates should hold certifications in GPA, U-FIRST!, P.I.E.C.E.S., Montessori, Gentle Care, and a recovery philosophy
  • The candidates should have knowledge of community support services, primary health care, and mental health systems
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong clinical judgment and comprehensive skills in assessment
  • The candidates should exhibit proven interpersonal and critical thinking skills to establish and maintain positive shared-care working relationships with patients and care partners
  • The candidates should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively document and convey essential clinical and systems information
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to work in a self-directed manner
  • The candidates should be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to provide services according to the work schedule determined by the employer and according to the needs of the individuals served
  • The candidates should hold a valid driver’s license from the province of Ontario and have access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes
  • The candidates should be bilingual

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide comprehensive mental health nursing services to clients served by the Seniors’ Mental Health Program – Regional Consultation Service
  • The candidates should be able to align with CMHA Cochrane Timiskaming Branch’s Mission, Vision, and Values
  • The candidates should be able to assist in maintaining and/or reintegrating individuals into the community at their optimal level of functioning
