Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of nursing experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support the development of a Nurse-Client relationship and effective collaboration within a diverse, inter-professional team
- The candidate should have effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- The candidate should demonstrate knowledge of emergency psychiatry and crisis intervention principles and theory
- The candidate should have the ability to work effectively with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds, be computer literate
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should possess a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S./CPR) certification
- The candidate should have experience in psychiatric or mental health nursing, experience working in an outpatient setting, with sound knowledge in crisis intervention and rapid intake assessment , preference will be given to candidates who possess or are currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc.N) and/or CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- The candidate should have Preference with community nursing experience and a comprehensive understanding of Recovery principles and their application to client service, Proficiency in French and a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to develop, implement, and evaluate inter-professional service plans for clients with schizophrenia, primary psychotic disorders, and concurrent disorders in accordance with the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario
- The candidate should be able to act as a system navigator, connecting clients to appropriate services and community resources
- The candidate should be able to work in collaborative partnerships with clients, their formal and informal supports, and family health care teams to ensure a successful transition of care
- The candidate should be able to support clients from diverse populations and demonstrate cultural competence in care delivery
- The candidate should be able to participate in clinical supervision or reflective practice to ensure high-quality care and ongoing professional development
- The candidate should be able to contribute to program development and participate in research initiatives within the program
- The candidate should be able to provide educational support and supervision to students in clinical placements
- The candidate should be able to make accurate behavioural observations and perform measurement-based care assessments, mental status exams, and nursing physical health assessments
- The candidate should be able to monitor clients’ responses to pharmaceutical and other care interventions and make appropriate clinical decisions based on observed outcomes
- The candidate should be able to apply sound knowledge of community resources, crisis intervention strategies, recovery models, trauma-informed care practices, and addiction treatment in supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness
