Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French and English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field as Registered practical nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should have effective organizational and problem-solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to think critically
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behaviour
- The candidates should show a demonstrated interest in continuous learning and professional development
- The candidates should be able to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- The candidates should preferably possess, or be currently pursuing, a B.Sc.N and CAN certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
- The candidates should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team
- The candidates should be computer literate, possess bilingualism (French and English) and proficiency in a second language
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to participate in a competency-based orientation and apply and maintain practice-based competencies throughout all clinical assignments
- The candidates should be able to provide high-quality nursing care to patients, clients, and families while engaging in structured, ongoing learning to support continuous development
- The candidates should be able to deliver client-centered mental health, addictions, and general nursing care as part of an interprofessional team
- The candidates should be able to ensure the security and safety of the assigned inpatient unit and practice in accordance with professional regulatory standards, CAMH Policies, the Professional Practice Model, and the Canadian Standards of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Practice
- The candidates should be able to make behavioural observations and conduct continuous physical and mental status assessments
- The candidates should be able to monitor clients’ responses to pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions
- The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and evaluate interprofessional, client-centred care plans
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively and collaboratively with other team members
- The candidates should be able to support and contribute to a healthy and inclusive workplace that values diversity, fosters teamwork, and complies with all regulatory and legislative requirements
