Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a diploma from a recognized Pharmacy Technician College
Experience: Candidates should have previous pharmacy experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate effective organizational skills and the ability to multitask
- The candidates should possess strong problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail
Other Requirements:
The candidates should be registered with the corresponding provincial licensing college
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to greet customers promptly and accurately gather prescription information in accordance with professional standards, perform responsibilities in priority order based on the assigned role in the Role Assignment Schedule
- The candidate should be able to refer all clinical inquiries to the pharmacist without delay, accurately dispense prescription medications in compliance with pharmacy regulations and process third-party adjudication
- The candidate should be able to set clear and realistic customer expectations regarding prescription wait times, locate and process payments for prescriptions and related items efficiently
- The candidate should be able to refer customers requiring counselling to the pharmacist in accordance with pharmacy procedures, maintain and control the dispensary’s cash register with accuracy and accountability
- The candidate should be able to adhere to all privacy and confidentiality requirements, receive and process new and repeat prescription orders in line with Standard Operating Procedures
- The candidate should be able to prepare and submit pharmacy orders, excluding controlled substances and narcotics, adjudicate online and manual third-party billings, including managing third-party account issues
- The candidate should be able to answer telephone calls and redirect them to the pharmacist when appropriate, manage incoming faxes in accordance with Pharmacy Standards of Practice
