Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of the Red Seal trades certificate (3-year program)
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years general food service experience in a camp or institutional setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to adhere to and monitor a budget in the planning and preparation of meals
  • The candidates should have the ability to maintain and keep appropriate records to ensure efficient service levels
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of food service procedures and practices, as well as applicable health, safety, WHIMS, and sanitation standards
  • The candidates should exhibit the ability to work in a diverse environment
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent ability to communicate openly and effectively with an innate ability to build and maintain high, effective, strong working relationships
  • The candidates should have the ability to use MS Operating Systems, MS Office, Internet, and Email programs
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of practical corrections techniques and theories with the ability to exercise sound judgment in application. Awareness of northern Aboriginal traditions and values
  • The candidates should hold First Aid and CPR Certification

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide food services for the South Mackenzie Correctional Centre (SMCC) on an “as required” basis within the guidelines of the Northwest Territories
  • The candidates should be able to perform their duties in accordance with operational standards established in the Corrections Division, to provide safe and secure custody, rehabilitation, and reintegration of sentenced and remanded Offenders
  • The candidates should be able to the Food Service Supervisor or the Facility Manager, ensuring the ongoing provision and enforcement of policy and services within the Corrections Mission, Vision, and Value Statement

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get annual Northern Allowance of $2.54 per hour
