Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a diploma or certificate program pertaining to security services
Experience: Candidates should have two years’ experience working in a security setting

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have a GED and/or High School Diploma.
  • The candidates should have a sound knowledge of the principles, practices, and operation of student residence facilities
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of policies, procedures, rules, and regulations concerning on-campus living and facility operations and maintenance and a valid Class 4 driver’s license
  • The candidates should have knowledge of establishing budgets and internal policies and procedures and demonstrate the ability to assess and develop service delivery options
  • The candidates should be able to work with students from diverse cultural and language backgrounds and possess strong written and verbal skills, as well as strong research skills
  • The candidates should have knowledge of best practices in the coordination of tutors, training, educational courses, workshop, and presentation skills
  • The candidates should have a working knowledge of computer programs, including student records systems, email and Internet programs, Microsoft Office programs, financial programs, and PeopleSoft

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the physical security, operation, maintenance, and living conditions of 138 units, including various types of accommodations such as single residence rooms, one and two-bedroom apartments, row housing, and detached housing units
  • The candidates should be able to monitor the activities of residents to ensure they are adhering to Aurora College’s policies and regulations
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all exits and windows at the main campus are secure, including locking all vehicles and gates each evening
  • The candidates should be able to intervene to stop or prevent dangerous, unsafe, or inappropriate activities if students, family members, or others are at risk, such as responding to domestic disputes and child apprehension situations
  • The candidates should be able to respond to all emergency and routine situations regarding students by entering student residences and dispersing large groups of people that may be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
