Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child and Youth Care
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR be in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or have a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved
  • The candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR a Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR a Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree. These are the preferred education credentials AND/OR in-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who hold a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA)
  • The candidates should be eligible for delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) and must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with no restriction or equivalent such as from another Canadian Province

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to ensure that children and youth in care are receiving placement resources that meet their unique individual needs
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain a range of placement options, such as foster homes, group homes, and specialized/staffed residential placements
  • The candidates should be able to establish vital working relationships with staff, the community, and other stakeholders as a Resource Worker
  • The candidates should be able to support foster families and monitor placement services effectively
  • The candidates should be able to work with child protection teams in district offices
  • The candidates should be able to conduct home studies, out-of-care assessments, and liaise with non-residential contract resources as necessary in this role
