Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have registration with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta
Experience: Candidates should have recent Critical Care experience within the past 5 years

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) certification and possess a relevant degree
  • The candidates should have 2 or more years of Critical Care Respiratory Therapy experience within the past 5 years
  • The candidates should have Neonatal invasive and non-invasive ventilation experience within the past 5 years
  • The candidates should hold current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
  • The candidates should hold current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • The candidates should be competent in arterial line insertion and competent in adult intubation
  • The candidates should have experience with Connect Care or Epic documentation system

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to actively participate in the education of patients, students, staff, and physicians
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to process improvement within the department or service area
  • The candidates should be able to advocate for patients using the principles of patient and family-centered care
  • The candidates should be able to provide technical support for all Respiratory Therapy equipment and manage competing priorities, work independently, exercise independent decision-making, and effectively resolve conflicts
  • The candidates should be able to cover all areas they have been oriented to and that Respiratory Services clinically supports at Chinook Regional Hospital
  • The candidates should be able to display interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills and demonstrate a pattern of professional development and maintain a professional and accountable practice
  • The candidates should be able to assess patients (clients, residents), develop and implement respiratory therapy care plans, and monitor their progress and promote a healthy, respectful, and safe work environment
  • The candidates should be able to operate various diagnostic and therapeutic equipment and perform interventions and collaborate effectively with clinical teams and groups to enhance clinical outcomes
  • The candidates should be able to provide training and assistance to healthcare providers in the use and care of respiratory equipment and their families about diseases, medications, equipment, and treatments related to respiratory care
