Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Rehabilitation Assistant Diploma from an approved college or you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology. If you are currently enrolled in these programs, your application will be considered
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates with U-First training or a Dementia Care Course would be considered an asset
  • The candidates should have a clear criminal record and undergo a vulnerable sector check upon hire
  • The candidates must hold a current First Aid & CPR certificate
  • The candidates should have knowledge of basic resident care practices and principles
  • The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare and administer individual and group physical therapy sessions
  • The candidates should be able to administer and assist residents with therapeutic intervention programs as developed by the Physical Therapist (PT) and Occupational Therapist (OT), such as range of motion exercises, progressive resistive exercises, and stretching, as well as activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • The candidates should be able to assist residents in ambulation, with or without an ambulatory aid, under the direction of the Physiotherapist
  • The candidates should be able to document according to policy and procedures, including Daily Resident Care Record, resident progress notes, incident reporting, PPCA (Prevention and Control of Communicable Disease), Critical Incidents, etc.
  • The candidates should be able to observe and monitor residents’ response during treatment and respond accordingly to ensure safety, noting conditions and progress for reporting to PT/OT
  • The candidates should be able to maintain equipment inventory and assist with department audits, cleaning, and inspections
