Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completed post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work independently and demonstrate the ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to update and modify programs and databases with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have possess an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience, be working towards or be eligible to obtain certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • The candidates should possess a recognized Project Management Professional designation, sound knowledge of Ontario’s legal framework for SH&E, including the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations, Environmental Protection Act, Regulations for Construction Projects, Canadian Criminal Code safety provisions, Technical Standards and Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Act, and First Aid Regulations
  • The candidates should demonstrate sound knowledge of business analytics and statistical analysis techniques, including trend analysis, forecasting, descriptive statistics, and validation
  • The candidates should have sound knowledge of best practice research methods and techniques, possess strong project management skills and the ability to strategize and adapt to new challenges
  • The candidates should have sound knowledge of computers and software applications related to the work, including Crystal Reports/SAP Business Objects, Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • The candidates should possess sound knowledge of business administration concepts and practices along with comprehensive knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, and equipment
  • The candidates should have highly effective interpersonal, oral, written, and presentation skills, along with strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical abilities, and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
  • The candidates should have or be able to acquire thorough knowledge of departmental and TTC operations, organizational structure, policies and procedures, and operational standards, be required to obtain the Subway/SRT Rule Book, Streetcar Rule Book, WHMIS certification, and attend Occupational Health & Safety Act training

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide organizational support through the dissemination of safety communications and management reports, as well as by managing specific safety functions and programs within their area of responsibility
  • The candidates should be able to track and prepare reports on corrective actions for Level 2 and Level 3 investigations and outstanding items from facility inspections
  • The candidates should be able to assist the Safety team with investigations, safety communications, job aids, facility inspections, and site visits on various shifts should be able to prepare and present various reports, data, and analyses related to Safety Inspector KPIs
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the maintenance of investigation files, documents, and intranet content, and prepare and distribute weekly safety reports
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate behaviours that support diversity, inclusion, and a respectful work and service environment that is free from discrimination and harassment
  • The candidates should be able to help remove barriers and accommodate employees and customers, in line with TTC’s commitments under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC), the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC’s internal policies
