Salary: $16.65 to $25.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 35 to 45 hours per week

Shifts: Day, Overtime, On Call, Flexible Hours, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Driver’s abstract, Valid driver’s licence, and Vehicle supplied by employer.

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as Other trades certificate or diploma
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Target audience: First Nations students
Type of experience: School bus driver, Intercity bus driver, Tour and charter bus driver, and Buses
Transportation/travel experience: Local, Regional, and Provincial/territorial
Credentials: Class 4/4F/F/4A-B-C Licence (ambulances, emergency vehicles, and buses with fewer than 24 passengers), Class 5/5F/G Licence (cars, small trucks, and other 2-axle vehicles), Provincial or Territorial Commercial Vehicle licence (Class 4 or E), School Bus Endorsement, and First Aid Certificate
Security and safety: Child Abuse Registry check, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), and Drug test

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have knowledge of First Nations settlements
  • The candidates should have the ability to distinguish between colors, demonstrate attention to detail, possess hand-eye coordination, and be comfortable sitting for extended periods
  • The candidates should be able to work under pressure

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should demonstrate a client focus, possess efficient interpersonal skills, exhibit excellent oral communication abilities, display flexibility, exercise good judgment, and be organized
  • The candidates should be reliable team players

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to operate buses, school buses, or streetcars to transport passengers, report delays, mechanical problems, accidents, interact with the public, and complete logbooks and reports
  • The candidates should be able to deal with difficult passengers, resolve conflicts, ensure children’s safety when boarding and leaving buses, crossing streets while the bus is stopped, and maintain control of student activities during travel to prevent distractions or behaviors that could compromise safety
  • The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
