Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have minimum of Grade 12 Education or equivalent
Experience: Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical Labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be preferably certified with MECP Operator in Training (OIT) certification in Wastewater Collection, coupled with hands-on experience in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems
- The candidates should possess strong oral and written communication skills, with basic computer/tablet knowledge considered an asset
- The candidates should hold a valid MTO ‘G’ class driver’s licence in good standing, with a driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (maximum of 3 demerit points; maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving-related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions), as it is required to perform the job
- The candidates should demonstrate a passion for promoting and maintaining a healthy and safe workplace, along with the ability to work respectfully and effectively in a team environment
- The candidates should exhibit a strong commitment to delivering quality customer service
- The candidates should demonstrate a demonstrated commitment to Reconciliation, Equity, Accessibility, Diversity, and Inclusion
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to participate in a wide range of maintenance, construction, administrative, and operational activities in the Wastewater Collection system
- The candidates should be able to ensure the safe and efficient operation, care, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles by performing daily checks
- The candidates should be able to maintain a safe work environment by taking necessary precautions and applying safety procedures in accordance with health and safety legislation and City of Waterloo policies
- The candidates should be able to maintain proper written and/or electronic records of activities as required
- The candidates should be able to communicate and cooperate effectively with others, respecting the values of the corporation, both internally and externally
