Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a 2 year recognized Community College Law Enforcement Program
Experience: Candidates should have over 6 months up to 1 year security experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and effective communication, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and control the movement of patients, staff, and visitors through the perimeter of the Unit
  • The candidates should be available to work 12-hour shifts on a 24-hour rotating basis and on weekends

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess Grade 12 education
  • The candidates should be able to provide documentation of a clean Criminal Record and must be licensed under the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005
  • The candidates should have previous security experience in a health care setting
  • The candidates should be motivated team players with a positive service-oriented approach
  • The candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated sensitivity toward clients experiencing mental health challenges
  • The candidates should have the ability to respond to emergencies as they arise while remaining calm and in control of the situation
  • The candidates should have possess a fundamental understanding of computers and software applications and must be able to work with minimal supervision, problem-solve, and exercise good judgment in varied situations
  • The candidates should have knowledge of fire and emergency response procedures, W.H.M.I.S

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to provide surveillance and assistance for patients, visitors, and staff
  • The candidates should be able to provide interior and perimeter security measures for the inpatient unit through surveillance, documentation and key control
  • The candidates should be able to conduct person searches and unit searches as required for security screening or incident investigation
  • The candidates should be able to occasionally perform security checks of the unit perimeter and safety and security equipment on the unit
