City of Calgary’s Transit department oversees public transportation services within the city. It operates buses, CTrains, and other transit modes, facilitating mobility for residents and visitors. Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as completed 2-year diploma
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years’ experience in Statistical Analysis

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Power Business Intelligence (BI), or a similar BI tool, and Structures Query Language (SQL)
  • The candidates should hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver’s License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending
  • The candidates should have experience with database management, computer programming, business process improvement, quality assurance, and project management
  • The candidates should possess working knowledge in different programming/scripting languages such as R, Python, and JavaScript
  • The candidates should have previous experience with other transit/transportation software products such as route scheduling and computerized passenger information systems, which would be beneficial
  • The candidates should have skills in planning, organizing, database analysis, arithmetic calculations, attention to detail, strong communication, and presentation skills
  • The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical collaborators, proficiently deal with multiple competing priorities, and possess an aptitude for problem-solving and dealing with ambiguity
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to prioritize, collaborate with other partners, and work effectively in a team setting

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to analyze and evaluate complex transit data to assist with operational performance measures to enhance service delivery
  • The candidates should be able to support the strategic objectives set out under the Calgary Transit Data Strategic Plan
  • The candidates should be able to support the entire Calgary Transit Business Unit by furthering operational efficiencies through identifying application and data requirements, managing data, and identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) for data-driven decisions
  • The candidates should be able to gather data requirements from both internal and external parties and recommend efficient data-related, business, and operational reporting solutions
  • The candidates should be able to generate customized and complex ad-hoc reports to meet clients’ needs
  • The candidates should be able to provide actionable insights and analysis to drive results, inform strategies, and maximize opportunities for the business
  • The candidates should be able to undertake complex analysis and present key insights in a simple model for business collaborators to understand and act upon
  • The candidates should be able to perform other duties including process mapping, dashboard and infographics design and implementation, and support the implementation of the Calgary Transit Data Governance Framework
