Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to oversee the category of HBA (Health and Beauty Aids) which includes Hair Care, Hair Colour, and Hair Accessories
  • The candidates should be able to develop strategies for each sub-category within HBA to maximize sales and profitability
  • The candidates should be able to analyze market trends and consumer preferences to make informed assortment decisions
  • The candidates should be able to work with vendors to negotiate agreements, manage costs, and ensure quality and delivery terms meet company standards
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with marketing teams to develop promotional plans and execute marketing initiatives for the HBA category
  • The candidates should be able to monitor inventory levels and implement strategies to optimize inventory turnover and minimize excess stock
  • The candidates should be able to lead line reviews and seasonal planning activities for HBA, ensuring store-ready modulars and sets are delivered on time
  • The candidates should be able to stay updated on industry developments and attend relevant trade shows and events to identify new opportunities and innovations in the HBA category
  • The candidates should be able to design, develop, and execute strategies for complex categories, as determined by established sales, qualitative, and quantitative criteria
  • The candidates should be able to partner with cross-functional specialist teams to achieve profit and loss deliverables and sell the products customers want at unbeatable prices
  • The candidates should be able to be accountable for all aspects of merchandise profit and loss management and category financial results relating to specific categories
  • The candidates should be able to conduct short-term and long-term planning, as well as proactive/reactive management to ensure forecasts, sales, markdowns, coop collection, market share growth, gross profit, inventory targets/budgets, and pricing are met or exceeded
  • The candidates should be able to communicate/reports results to appropriate cross-functional partners
  • The candidates should be able to review post-buy financial analysis and identify Record of Results for review with cross-functional partners
  • The candidates should be able to develop category strategies that align with the merchant framework and portfolio strategies/financials through the use and review of multiple data sources
  • The candidates should be able to conduct item level assortment analysis and determine assortment decisions, including coverage of needs analysis for priority sub-categories, vendor optimization, SKU optimization, price ladders, private label/brand strategy and development
  • The candidates should be able to visit stores (both Walmart and competitors) to build category strategy and price ladders for priority sub-categories and proactively communicate strategies to leadership and their respective cross-functional teams to allow for appropriate planning and execution
  • The candidates should be able to initiate, negotiate, and manage vendor agreements, costs, vendor allowances/terms, quality, and delivery terms in order to drive supplier performance
  • The candidates should be able to develop and maintain vendor relationships, both domestic and overseas
  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for all aspects of marketing for the category including tab space planning, working with vendors as well as internal partners responsible for item level planning, selection, placement forecasting, and execution for tabs, and all other media
  • The candidates should be able to be accountable for new item and promotional forecasts and identify item deletes, manage and communicate markdowns/markups/price adjustments, and develop exit strategies to ensure adjustments can and will be made as necessary
  • The candidates should be able to prepare and lead all line reviews and deliver store-ready modulars and seasonal sets on time and complete promotional planning activities
  • The candidates should be able to attend trade shows and buying trips in order to identify new vendors, enhance innovation and product categories that will influence item assortment, new item creation, pricing, and align to the corporate strategy
  • The candidates should be able to be responsible for associate engagement, development, and ensuring associates (direct and indirect reports) have current development and succession plans in place
  • The candidates should be able to provide coaching and direction to Category Team Analysts and/or Associate Merchants and/or Category Advisors (vendor) and mentor other merchants as required
