Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Completion of Post-secondary certificate
Experience: Candidates should have six months of experience in a free flow shelter environment or in mental health setting/supportive living environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be prepared for moderate to high amounts of walking, standing, lifting, and bending
  • The candidates should also be occasionally assisting with the mobilization of clients

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have completed Grade 12 and one year in a in a free flow shelter environment or mental health setting/supportive living environment
  • The candidates should have knowledge of regulations and guidelines on the COVID-19 response provided by the Chief Public Health Officer
  • The candidates should possess a working understanding of policies, procedures, and protocols related to the infection and prevention of transmission
  • The candidates should have an understanding of Naloxone
  • The candidates should have the ability to perform CPR
  • The candidates should undergo non-violent crisis intervention training
  • The candidates should have knowledge of the recovery model and trauma-informed practices
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
  • The candidates should possess basic knowledge of case management for shelter clients

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to report to the Supervisor, Shelter Services
  • The candidates should be able to work as an integral member of the day-to-day operations of the Day of Shelter, assisting with program delivery and providing direct support to shelter clients
  • The candidates should be able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with members providing therapeutic programming, serving meals, screening all persons accessing the shelter, and providing basic health education in collaboration with the Health and Social Services Authority
  • The candidates should be able to assist in program delivery, as designated by the Supervisor, Shelter Services
  • The candidates should be able to provide support to clients and ensure a safe and healthy environment for both clients and staff

Benefits:

  • The candidates will get an annual Northern Allowance of $3,700
