Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a Bachelor of Social Work Degree
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to occasionally lift or exert physical strength required to lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
  • The candidates should occasionally work in awkward or cramped body positions; push, pull, and set up furniture for group work, and drive to conduct home visits with clients

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have current and continuing registration with the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Social Workers
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of relevant legislation, including but not limited to, the Mental Health Care and Treatment Act, Adult Protection Act, Advanced Health Care Directives Act, Medical Assistance in Dying, and the Children, Youth and Families Act
  • The candidates should have knowledge of community resources, systems, and programs
  • The candidates should demonstrate knowledge of crisis intervention and supportive counseling
  • The candidates should exhibit knowledge of case management
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to direct, supervise, and mentor students
  • The candidates should showcase clinical skills in assessment and interventions with individuals, families, and groups
  • The candidates should possess analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills
  • The candidates should have strong written and oral communication skills, as well as the ability to deliver/facilitate effective presentations
  • The candidates should be capable of working effectively within an inter-professional environment and establishing and maintaining effective working relationships
  • The candidates should have the ability to work independently
  • The candidates should have a satisfactory record of work performance and attendance

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to regularly sit to consult with clients, conduct therapeutic sessions, and work on the computer
  • The candidates should be able to regularly engage in fine finger/precision work on a computer
