Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language.
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualification such as bachelor’s degree in health care, health informatics, public or business administration or another relevant field is preferred
Experience: Candidates need 1-3 years of relevant experience, experience conducting privacy impact assessments is an asset, direct operational level privacy experience preferably in a health sector and/or IT environment is an asset, have demonstrated knowledge and experience of access and privacy requirements and practices, preferably related to the health and public sectors and also have experience with conducting and/or providing oversight for privacy impact assessments including developing privacy requirements, risk mitigation plans, corporate policies and developing and/or delivering training content.

  • The candidate should be able to bring together together the strengths of many existing health care organizations to work together to build a better health care system for all Ontarians
  • The candidate should be committed to applying the best of what we collectively do, and in partnership with others, to transform the health system and improve the quality and delivery of care for patients, families and health care providers
  • The candidate should be able to provide privacy advisory services, supports privacy operations, assists in developing and implementing the privacy program, and supports the Privacy Manager as required
  • The candidate should be able to work as a part of the team that leads the development of a privacy program for some of the most exciting and transformative initiatives in Ontario
  • The candidate should having recognized access and privacy designation (CIPP/C) is preferred
    The candidate should have the knowledge of Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and also have Ontario’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
  • The candidate should have a thorough understanding of “privacy-by-design” and best practices.
  • The candidate should having the knowledge of technology architecture and infrastructure, digital health solutions and services, enterprise and corporate IT including information and cyber security preferred and also have working knowledge of digital health technologies and information security industry standards
  • The candidate should excel in a fast-paced and project focused environment and also have exceptional analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • The candidate should have strong written and verbal communication.
  • The candidate should be able to provide a security clearance and a criminal record check

Responsibilities:

  • The candidate should be responsible assisting the Privacy Manager in ensuring Ontario Health (OH) programs comply with privacy rules and regulations
  • The candidate should be able to report to the Manager, Privacy, the Privacy Specialist is responsible for assisting the team in ensuring OH programs comply with privacy rules and regulations
  • The candidate should be able to develop privacy policies and procedures and also may be required to conduct privacy impact assessments for small to medium complex initiatives
  • The candidate should be able to support investigating privacy incidents, patient inquiries, and privacy requests of any kind and also identify and assess privacy risks
  • The candidate should be able to provide privacy advisory and support to business teams and also lead and participate on project teams as the privacy subject matter expert
  • The candidate should be able to identify privacy requirements and also develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders to foster a culture of privacy
  • The candidate should be able to respond and provide advice and legislative interpretation for information and access requests, consent management requests, complaints, or inquiries, appeals and privacy issues under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 and the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and also support privacy program projects and activities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Privacy Office
  • The candidate should be able to develop and deliver privacy training for Ontario Health and also perform other duties as required
