Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to investigate and analyze the feasibility of system requirements for national mail processing systems
  • The candidates should be able to prepare technical documentation, including control systems and process designs, to develop system, network, and security specifications within the Mail Processing Equipment (MPE) network and security architecture and framework
  • The candidates should be able to provide system expertise and guidance to internal customers, applying conceptual thinking to complex problems and implementing practical solutions to help achieve departmental objectives
  • The candidates should be able to implement and maintain plant server infrastructure, including hardware configurations, operating systems, and network infrastructure such as security appliance hardware, network switches, routers, and virtualization infrastructure
  • The candidates should be able to perform proactive system monitoring, integrity checks, and ensure continuous availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes
  • The candidates should be able to assist with MPE infrastructure administration tasks, including system troubleshooting, configuration, standards compliance in a mixed Windows/Linux environment, backup/restore solutions, and equipment disaster recovery plans
  • The candidates should be able to maintain and contribute to various control documents, such as MPE network security practices, computer room standards, and other standards, procedures, and guidelines
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and remove viruses, spyware, and other non-authorized software or access attempts. They should also assist with intrusion prevention system and anti-virus client and server configuration and maintenance, as well as identify, evaluate, and apply patches and upgrades on a regular basis
  • The candidates should be able to review project team or contractor change proposals and participate in software acceptance testing and factory acceptance testing for Mail Processing Equipment and Systems
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate with other functional teams (e.g., HO Engineering Design Authorities, Engineering Field Services, Process Engineering, Operations) to resolve system and operational issues and implement system improvements
  • The candidates should be able to perform technical reviews and evaluations of vendor solutions to ensure feasibility and alignment with Canada Post standards and practice
