Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have Grade 12 education or equivalent secondary school education as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education
Experience: Candidates should have 5 years experience diagnosing and repairing problems on heavy vehicles and equipment and on air and hydraulic systems
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a current truck and coach technician’s license (310T) and a current automotive service technician’s license (310S) and must possess and maintain a valid, class “D” Ontario Driver’s License with “Z” endorsement
- The candidates should demonstrate customer service skills, including the ability to provide technical guidance and should demonstrate the ability to work independently and within a team environment
- The candidates should exhibit strong communications skills, both written and verbal, as well as interpersonal and organizational skills
- The candidates should have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and must be able to lift and stand for extended periods of time and be willing and able to wear all required uniform clothing and/or protective equipment as assigned/required
- The candidates should have experience with emergency vehicles, apparatus, and equipment and should possess knowledge of Scott Breathing Apparatus and medical oxygen equipment
- The candidates should have knowledge and ability to perform SCBA functional testing, maintenance, repair, and related fit testing
- The candidates should possess knowledge of hydraulic pumps/systems and should have welding and fabricating skills in aluminum and steel
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform the repair, maintenance, testing, and inspection of the Fire Department fleet, equipment, buildings, and property
- The candidates should be able to adhere to documented department procedures and troubleshoot accurately diagnosing problems
- The candidates should be able to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, and air brake schematics and efficiently complete all necessary work orders
- The candidates should be able to maintain an awareness and understanding of current and emerging technologies
- The candidates should be able to perform other similar and related duties as assigned
