Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of university degree in Technical Theatre
Experience: Candidates should have 3 years of related experience in a road house environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work effectively as part of a team, provide a satisfactory criminal record check, with vulnerable sector screening dated within the last 30 days, as a condition of employment if they are new hires or have not previously performed in this position
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a two-year college diploma or coupled with ; an equivalent combination of education and experience
- The candidates should demonstrate a passion for the performing arts in a fast-paced environment, supported by a background in technical theatre, familiarity with a live performance environment
- The candidates should possess skills in lighting design, light board operation (with proficiency in programming Grand MA consoles), audio engineering (with proficiency in DiGiCo SD consoles), set construction, carpentry, rigging, stage management, training, and working with community volunteer crews
- The candidates should have completed Scissor Lift training, Working at Heights certification, and First Aid/CPR
- The candidates should successfully complete the Natural Resources Canada – Pyrotechnic Card – Theatrical within 12 months of hire
- The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- The candidates should have advanced problem-solving and job estimation skills, along with resourcefulness and the initiative to perform to a high standard with minimal supervision, proven communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to set up and operate DiGiCo SD consoles and other mixing consoles for events at the Oakville Centre and other venues, install microphones, effects and dynamics processors, playback devices, amplifiers, and speaker systems
- The candidates should be able to troubleshoot, operate, and mix sound for various event types including theatre, musical theatre, spoken word, amplified music concerts, and dance performances
- The candidates should be able to set up, troubleshoot, and operate video projection systems and program and operate audio playback systems such as QLab for theatrical use
- The candidates should be able to program and operate Grand MA lighting control systems to create effective lighting for dance, theatre, musical theatre, and concerts, hang, circuit, colour, and focus both conventional and moving lights
- The candidates should be able to operate a follow spotlight and install and program DMX-based control systems, troubleshoot and maintain conventional, automated, and LED stage lighting fixtures, set up scenery and staging for a wide variety of events
- The candidates should be able to repair scenic elements, rig flying scenery, and operate a single purchase fly system to perform scene changes during live events, perform maintenance tasks on theatre equipment and assist in the upkeep of the building
- The candidates should be able to provide limited supervision of events in the Oakville Centre Studio Theatre, including overseeing clients and crew while managing all technical aspects of those events
