Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a High School diploma
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should be able to perform physically demanding work, work outdoors in all types of weather conditions for extended periods
- The candidate should be available to work up to 12-hour shifts, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays and at least 18 years of age
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have GED, possess a valid driver’s license and hold a valid Class 3 license, CL4, CL3/Air, CL2, or CL1/Air
- The candidate should have strong communication skills and be able to provide clear and concise instructions/directions, including over the radio, pass the required physical job tasks for the position
- The candidate should be able to pass written examinations and read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations, and other printed material in English
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to perform moderate to heavy physical labour on assigned areas of track
- The candidates should be able to pull track spikes efficiently and safely, apply rail anchors as part of track maintenance tasks
- The candidates should be able to shovel crushed rock as required for track support, bend and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis as part of their daily duties
- The candidates should be able to complete repetitive physical tasks consistently and maintain focus and safety throughout the work shift
