Salary: $28.00 hourly for 40 to 60 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Delta, BC
Shifts: Flexible Hours
Transportation information: Local and Provincial/territorial, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, and Willing to travel overnight
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 7 months to less than 1 year
Area of specialization: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, and Trip reports
Equipment and machinery experience: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles) and Tractor-trailer
Computer and technology knowledge: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone, Hard hat, and Steel-toed safety boots
Credentials: Air Brakes Endorsement and Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)
Security and safety: Valid passport and Driving record check (abstract)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should possess a high level of attention to detail and be capable of handling heavy loads
- The candidates should be able to manage a large workload and be willing to work overtime when required
- The candidates should be physically capable of handling demanding tasks, willing to handle repetitive tasks, and able to perform tasks that involve sitting
- The candidates should be capable of lifting more than 45 kg (100 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral communication skills and exhibit flexibility in adapting to various work requirements
- The candidates should demonstrate good judgment in decision-making and be organized in managing tasks and responsibilities
Candidate Status:
- Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
- Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
- If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to load and unload goods and operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- The candidates should be able to oversee the condition of the vehicle, inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, and perform emergency roadside repairs
- The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections, oversee all aspects of the vehicle, and perform preventive maintenance
- The candidates should be able to receive and relay information to central dispatch and transport and handle dangerous goods
