Shifts: Day, Evening, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Valid driver’s licence Willing to travel cross-border Willing to travel overnight
Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), and Trans-border documentation
Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience although having experience is an asset
Type of trucking and equipment: Flatbed Refrigerated Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles) Tractor-trailer
Communication systems experience: Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment Trip recorder (on-board computer)
Transportation/travel experience: Local, Provincial/territorial, and Regional
Credentials: AZ class license, Air Brakes Endorsement, and Class 1/1F/A Licence (semi trailer trucks)
Security and safety: Criminal record check, Driver’s validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to lift weights up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and exhibit reliability
- The candidates should be team players
Candidate Status:
- Canadian citizens and permanent or temporary foreign workers of Canada are eligible for this position
- International Candidates who don’t have a valid Canadian work permit also can apply
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to arrange travel, related itineraries, and make reservations, and drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- The candidates should be able to drive lighter, special-purpose trucks, load and unload goods, and obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- The candidates should be able to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment, and pay and receive payments for goods
