Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have three months’ related horticultural/agricultural experience

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a valid Mosquito and Biting Fly or Landscape Class, Saskatchewan Pesticide Applicator Licence
  • The candidates should hold a valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s Licence
  • The candidates must provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
  • The candidates should have the physical ability to perform the assigned duties under a variety of weather conditions
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • The candidates should be capable of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with the public and civic employees
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to use a variety of handheld equipment and tools

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assist with the monitoring and control of mosquitoes, small mammals, Dutch elm disease, other insects, and diseases
  • The candidates should be able to monitor the population of mosquitoes, Dutch elm disease, and other insects and diseases
  • The candidates should be able to apply pesticides for various pest control operations and ensure that all products are stored, handled, and used according to the appropriate Federal and Provincial legislation
  • The candidates should be able to operate and perform minor repairs to a variety of equipment used in mosquito control and other pest management operations
  • The candidates should be able to support and promote a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities
  • The candidates should be able to support and promote the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon’s Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures
