Young Agrarians Foundation based in Blackfalds, AB is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Vegetable farm worker. Young Agrarians Foundation is a catalyst for the next generation of sustainable farmers and food producers. Dedicated to supporting and empowering young agrarians, the foundation offers educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and resources to help aspiring farmers build successful and environmentally conscious agricultural enterprises. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $15.00 to $17.00 hourly (To be negotiated) for 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Blackfalds, AB
Shifts: Day, Early Morning, Morning
Transportation information: Own transportation, Valid driver’s licence and Public transportation is not available
Work setting: Staff accommodation available, remote location, various locations, and willing to relocate

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates don’t need standard educational qualifications
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Own tools/equipment: Gloves

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates involved in chicken farming should be experienced and skilled in poultry husbandry
  • The candidates engaged in floriculture production should possess knowledge and expertise in flower cultivation
  • Those in fruit and vegetable combination farming should have a background in both fruit and vegetable cultivation
  • Candidates experienced in layer poultry farming should demonstrate expertise in managing and maintaining layers for egg production
  • Those engaged in livestock combination farming should have knowledge and skills in managing various types of livestock in combination
  • Candidates involved in other vegetables and melon farming (except potato) should be experienced in cultivating diverse vegetables and melons, excluding potatoes
  • The candidates should be comfortable working outdoors and in potentially dusty conditions as part of their farming responsibilities
  • The candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • The candidates should be accustomed to performing repetitive tasks as part of their responsibilities
  • The candidates should be capable of handling heavy loads as required for the job
  • The candidates should be physically fit to meet the demands of a physically demanding role
  • The candidates should be able to stand for extended periods during their work
  • The candidates should be proficient in tasks involving bending, crouching, and kneeling

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess efficient interpersonal skills for effective communication and show flexibility, adapting to changing circumstances and tasks
  • The candidates should exercise good judgment in decision-making and problem-solving, be organized, maintaining a systematic approach to tasks, and be team players, collaborating effectively with colleagues
  • The candidates should uphold values and ethics in their work and interactions, be reliable, consistently meeting commitments and expectations, and demonstrate adaptability, adjusting to new situations and challenges
  • The candidates should be quick learners, efficiently acquiring new skills and knowledge

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

  • The candidates should be able to design and implement soil fertility programs
  • The candidates should be able to perform vegetable culling
  • The candidates should be able to harvest crops
  • The candidates should be able to pick row and orchard crops
