Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a diploma in recreation
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work flexible hours and shifts, including some weekends and evenings
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should be energetic, compassionate individuals who enjoy working with the elderly and have experience in programming and planning for seniors in a recreational environment
- The candidates should have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as strong computer skills
- The candidates should consider possession of a Class G Driver’s License and a passion for creative arts such as music therapy, art therapy, or artistic expression
- The candidates should provide proof of current, valid CPR and First Aid Certification, as well as a Safe Food Handler’s Course
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with each resident and family to assess their engagement in meaningful activities across the six dimensions of wellness: Physical, Social, Intellectual, Vocational, Emotional, and Spiritual
- The candidates should be able to assist each resident in achieving their goals to enhance their overall wellness and define strategies for achieving those goals
- The candidates should be able to develop, analyze, and review resident-directed individualized and community-wide programs
- The candidates should be able to foster partnerships with local businesses and community groups to facilitate program development
- The candidates should be able to evaluate programming to ensure that it meets residents’ needs and expectations while upholding established standards
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with the Recreation team to develop a comprehensive plan for full-scope wellness programming for all service lines
- The candidates should be able to oversee the orientation process for each new resident to introduce them to the recreation department, services offered, and available activities or amenities
- The candidates should be able to oversee Recreation services for special functions, ensuring organization, cost efficiency, and appropriate staffing
