Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the French Language
Education: Candidates should have completed a minimum of a 2-year post-secondary program in either a mechanical or electro-mechanical field (DEP in Quebec). These trades/programs could include industrial mechanic, millwright, mechanical technician/technologist
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of two years of experience within the last five years in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical or electro-mechanical systems and equipment, or possess a diploma per the educational requirements above, funded by Canada Post in the last five years
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to safely lift items that weigh less than 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds) when lifting heavy equipment and tools, and perform maintenance routines under a variety of conditions, including cramped spaces, heights, and other awkward positions
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in testing, diagnosing, and adjusting mechanical or electro-mechanical systems and equipment
- The candidates should have an understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and principles
- The candidates should have a basic understanding of electronics and electrical systems and principles is required
- The candidates should be able to operate a computer and use programs such as Windows and MS Office
- The candidates should be able to recommend changes in preventive maintenance procedures and practices
- The candidates should be capable of conducting investigations to determine the cause of breakdowns and recommending remedial action to prevent recurrences.
- The candidates should have troubleshooting skills
- The candidates should be able to initiate work orders requesting corrective actions
- The candidates should be capable of reporting on circumstances surrounding equipment failures and recommending measures for corrective actions
- The candidates should be able to educate other personnel on safe and effective operating procedures for the equipment/systems in use
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to read and interpret basic schematics, blueprints, and specifications
- The candidates should be able to perform adjusting, repair, and overhaul work as breakdowns occur, including some welding
- The candidates should be able to complete documentation
- The candidates should be able to plan and organize their daily activities
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively
- The candidates should be able to perform any other duties as required
- The work may entail heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and performing maintenance routines in a variety of environments and positions (some of them awkward), including cramped spaces and heights
