Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2-4 years of relevant, cumulative experience in Indigenous engagement, community investment or community engagement

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be skilled in project management, demonstrating exemplary organizational skills with a keen eye for detail, excellent time management skills, and the ability to prioritize for impact while managing multiple initiatives at once
  • The candidates should be creative, critical, and strategic thinkers with exceptional interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and functions internally and with a cross-section of external partners
  • The candidates should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and must possess solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with care and discretion, and a keen ability to listen
  • The candidates should be able to work collaboratively as part of a team and should be familiar with the energy industry
  • The candidates should have experience working with Indigenous communities is desirable
  • The candidates should maintain a Class 5 driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate company policies and guidelines. A driver’s abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to work closely with the functions of corporate social investment, Indigenous business engagement, and communications to support various initiatives sought at promoting community engagement and economic development, with some knowledge towards social investment and/or Indigenous engagement being ideal
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the organization of engagement activities, such as public information events, virtual meetings, and community events and able to support community and Indigenous engagement with regards to regulatory applications to meet best practices and ensure Cenovus receives approvals in support of capital and operating programs
  • The candidates should be able to actively participate and support the recruitment process specific to the Indigenous Internship Field Program and able to manage relationships and assist in the evaluation of select not-for-profit partnerships/social investments within the Lloydminster and greater Saskatchewan region
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the implementation and management of long-term agreements held with Indigenous communities adjacent to Cenovus’s Saskatchewan operating region and participate in company meetings with Indigenous groups as required
  • The candidates should be able to assist in the preparation of briefings and materials for external community audiences and able to support the Community and Indigenous Affairs team and the Indigenous business development lead on compiling Indigenous business information, including Indigenous contractor listings, and business spend reporting
  • The candidates should be able to support activation relating to Cenovus social investment programs and sponsorships housed in the Lloydminster/Saskatchewan region with an intention towards elevating the Cenovus brand
  • The candidates should be able to provide support and guidance to internal groups relating to various social investment priorities and community (Indigenous and non-Indigenous) based initiatives
  • The candidates should be able to manage requests for support within Cenovus’s internal social investment (Benevity) platform and assist in the outreach efforts, development, and maintenance of relationships with key Indigenous communities
