Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a valid Continuing Care Certification
Experience: Candidates should have previous working experience with the elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have Provincial Personal Care Worker course or equivalent
- The candidates should be registered in Nova Scotia’s CCA registry as per the Continuing Care Assistants Registry Act (NS only)
- The candidates should be able to provide a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening
- The candidates should have completed an Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care course and valid CPR and First Aid Certification
- The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to assist residents with hygiene and daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, oral care, skin care, meals, and mobilizing according to the work assignment
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with the resident and other members of the interdisciplinary team in the development of individualized Resident Care Plans
- The candidates should be able to assist in the planning and implementation of resident leisure activities on a daily basis
- The candidates should be able to assist with light housekeeping duties and perform delegated nursing acts according to company policy and scope of practice
- The candidates should be able to communicate and report relevant information regarding resident care or safety to the Supervisor
