Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should be registered with the provincial Practical Nursing regulatory body of Nova Scotia
Experience: Candidates should have previous working experience with the elderly in long-term care or a senior living environment is an asset

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to work a schedule of flexible hours and shifts inclusive of days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • The candidates should hold a valid CPR & First Aid Certification (required)
  • The candidates should have a clear criminal record with vulnerable sector screening upon hire
  • The candidates should have any previous course in Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care would be a huge asset
  • The candidates should have a passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services, and care

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, document, and direct resident needs through consultation with medical professionals, care conferences, and internal staff
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership to health services staff and oversee the provision of quality health services respecting the client’s right to individualized planning of health services
  • The candidates should be able to work with the existing management and health services teams to promote communication and compliance with policies and procedures
  • The candidates should be able to administer and record prescribed medication as per company policy and scope of practice
  • The candidates should be able to maintain the standards of accurate and complete documentation and reporting
  • The candidates should be able to apply dressings and treatments according to physician’s orders and policy
  • The candidates should be able to assist with the supervision and evaluation of job performance and behavior of other healthcare staff
