Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have a BScN and CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should hold a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) certificate and preferably possess, or be currently pursuing, additional qualifications
  • The candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop the Nurse-Client relationship and collaborate effectively within an interprofessional team and demonstrate effective leadership, decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • The candidates should be able to make behavioral observations, conduct mental status and risk assessments, and monitor client responses to pharmaceutical interventions
  • The candidates should have sound knowledge of crisis intervention, addiction issues, recovery model, forensic psychiatry, risk assessments, and severe and persistent mental illness
  • The candidates should preferably have experience or familiarity with psychiatric nursing with forensic patients
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of risk assessment tools and computer literate and engage in continuing documentation and communication with all members of the interprofessional team
  • The candidates should be able to perform assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate interprofessional client-centered care plans
  • The candidates should understand how to work within both forensic and mental health systems and should be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • The candidates should have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the management of disturbed behavior
  • The candidates should have the ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to liaise with other services in the CCR Program, across other CAMH programs, and community agencies to coordinate care for clients, ensuring seamless delivery of services and support
  • The candidates should be able to work with clients from diverse populations, demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity to individual needs and background
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to program development within the CCR Program, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance service delivery
  • The candidates should be able to provide education, support, and supervision to students, helping to develop their skills and knowledge in mental health care
  • The candidates should be able to participate in research activities within the CCR Program, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of mental health
  • The candidates should be able to develop, implement, and monitor risk management plans for clients, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • The candidates should be able to contribute to the assessment of clients’ fitness for trial, providing valuable insights and recommendations to the interdisciplinary team
  • The candidates should be able to ensure compliance with ORB disposition or court orders, following legal and regulatory requirements in all aspects of client care
  • The candidates should be able to participate in the preparation of ORB and Court reports, providing accurate and comprehensive information to support decision-making processes
  • The candidates should be able to support and contribute to the implementation of risk management processes, working collaboratively with colleagues to mitigate potential risks and to support and contribute to a healthy workplace culture that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable regulatory and legislative requirements, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for staff and clients alike
