Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of Graduation from an accredited university with a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be willing to travel occasionally within the region
  • The candidates should demonstrate the ability to manage time and tasks effectively and capable of making independent decisions

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association
  • The candidates should have experience with civil engineering design and experience with project management
  • The candidates should have experience with contract administration and experience with stakeholder management
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of civil engineering design and construction and knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and practices
  • The candidates should possess knowledge of contract administration and strong project management skills
  • The candidates should possess analytical skills and strong stakeholder management skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate professionalism and valid Class 05 Driver’s License and acknowledge that the use of a personal vehicle
  • The candidates should be registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with a Canadian Professional Engineering Association

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to conduct design reviews for building construction and renovation projects and investigate and report on infrastructure issues within the civil or structural discipline as the division’s lead for civil or structural engineering, reporting to the Manager of Facility Services Engineering
  • The candidates should be able to manage the design of building capital and alterations and improvements projects, including supervising and coordinating consultants, contractors, and other professionals
  • The candidates should be able to liaise with clients and user groups to determine project requirements, work scope, limitations, and other factors related to project success
  • The candidates should be able to monitor and report on project financials, schedules, progress, and quality control, as well as prepare open and limited calls for bids and requests for proposals for consultant and contractor engagement
  • The candidates should be able to provide advice and guidance for solutions to engineering problems including design, technical, and financial issues
  • The candidates should be able to review drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with codes and standards, review invoices, recommend payments, negotiate change orders, prepare and review cost estimates, and perform related contract administration work
  • The candidates should be able to provide in-house design services when necessary and perform other related duties as required in collaboration with the Manager of Facility Services Engineering
