Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have successfully completed Grade 12
Experience: Candidates should have one year of experience working in parks or a recreational setting
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be able to work independently and in a team setting and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers, staff, and the public
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have a current Occupational First Aid, CPR C, and AED certificate (or be willing to obtain before the start date)
- The candidates should possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a safe driving history and an equivalent combination of training and experience
- The candidates should have some relevant experience working with children and youth and demonstrate leadership skills
- The candidates should have an enthusiastic, high-initiative approach to their work with strong interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills and experience in environmental outreach
- The candidates should have High Five and Fundamental Movement Skills (or other Physical Literacy) certification
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to organize the staff team to ensure readiness for scheduled programs, initiatives, and events
- The candidates should be able to lead junior staff and volunteers in program or event site setup and takedown, ensuring efficient transitions
- The candidates should be able to complete program lesson plans and prepare for programs as needed, ensuring readiness for all scheduled activities and collaborate and problem-solve with the staff team to complete daily tasks and program offerings effectively
- The candidates should be able to lead engagement activities through the Park Play program, creating fun and interactive experiences for participants and facilitate Park Cleanups, educating the public on park care and environmental stewardship
- The candidates should be able to plan and lead engagement activities at Community Picnic events, fostering community involvement and enjoyment and engage the public at the Sounds of Summer concert series, ensuring a positive and memorable experience
- The candidates should be able to assist the Park Partnerships team in executing additional programs and community engagement initiatives as needed, contributing to the overall success of community effort
- The candidates should be able to assist with daily program and event site setup and takedown, contributing to the smooth execution of events
- The candidates should be able to collaborate and problem-solve with staff to ensure efficient completion of daily tasks and assist with engagement activities through the Park Play program and help facilitate park cleanups
- The candidates should be able to support community engagement and outreach activities at events such as Community Picnics and Sounds of Summer concerts and assist with any additional programs or community initiatives as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork
