Requirements:

Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience working closely with a Principal Investigator or as a Principal Investigator or as Project Director with responsibilities of managing, developing, and executing a major research project in the area of AI and automation, including hardware integration for automation, high throughput experimentation for dataset generation, AI utilization in experimental planning, and workflow establishment for seamless integration of experiments and simulations
- The candidates should have strong experience and expert knowledge of AI and automation and experience overseeing the activities of a lab
- The candidates should have experience working with industry partners and on industry-led research and development projects
- The candidates should have strong experience presenting research at academic conferences and demonstrated record of academic and research excellence
- The candidates should have a strong scholarly publication record and skills in electronic or hardware-oriented programming and machine learning
- The candidates should be proficient in general organic synthesis skills, air and moisture sensitive techniques, and common analytical instrumentation
- The candidates should be strong and effective communicators in oral and written English and a strong publication record
- The candidates should have demonstrated success in writing and preparing manuscripts, presentations, reports, briefs, and scientific abstracts and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to work with the AC community, including faculty and partners, to determine the required capabilities of the SDLs to be built and develop SDL plans to meet user requirements and design novel instruments for automated material synthesis and characterization
- The candidates should be able to develop customized hardware and Python software packages to build SDLs and install the equipment required for SDLs and work independently to develop research programs that leverage the AC’s SDLs and support the research objectives of AC faculty and industry partners
- The candidates should be able to use SDLs to synthesize and characterize large quantities of candidate molecules, calibrate theoretical models with experimental data, predict promising candidates with computational tools and machine learning algorithms, and elucidate structure-property relationships of emerging molecules, polymers, solid-state materials and formulations
- The candidates should be able to manage the research and development projects of AC’s industry partners when implemented in AC labs and promote AC’s research capacity, including delivering presentations at conferences
- The candidates should be able to develop plans supporting research collaborations and estimate financial resources required for programs and projects and work with Product Managers to ensure research outcomes meet partner requirements
- The candidates should be able to prepare manuscripts for submission to peer review publications or journals and steward them through the process and collaborate in preparing and submitting research proposals to granting agencies and progress reporting
- The candidates should be able to support consulting services related to the application of SDLs for materials discovery for the AC’s partners
- The candidates should be able to support research-focused events such as the Annual Symposium
