Salary: $28.86 hourly for 40 to 60 hours per week

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates don’t need experience, training will be provided
Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading, Driver logbook
Credentials: Driver’s License (Class 1 or A)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to pay attention to detail and handle heavy loads
  • The candidates should be able to manage a large workload and perform physically demanding tasks
  • The candidates should be able to lift up to 23 kg (50 lbs)

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should be flexible and organized
  • The candidates should be reliable and a team player

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to load and unload goods and obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
  • The candidates should be able to operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials and oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
  • The candidates should be able to perform brake adjustments and perform emergency roadside repairs
  • The candidates should be able to perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of the vehicle and perform preventive maintenance
  • The candidates should be able to receive and relay information to central dispatch and record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled, and fuel consumption
  • The candidates should be able to tarp and ensure the safety and security of cargo and transport and handle dangerous goods
