Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education:Â Candidates should have completed an accredited nursing program and hold a current license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province
Experience: Candidates should have two years of experience working as a nurse
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be flexible to accommodate assigned shifts, which will vary based on operational needs, with shift lengths determined by events at Canadian Blood Services fixed and mobile donor centers
- The candidates should be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays
- The candidates should be willing to travel for mobile events within Manitoba, with transportation provided by Canadian Blood Services
- The candidates should meet the physical requirements of the role, including the ability to lift weights up to 10 kg (22 lbs)
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have certification in First Aid and CPR and previous experience as a preceptor or in coaching others
- The candidates should possess technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, and the ability to learn new systems and programs
- The candidates should have a second language, which is considered an asset to support a positive donor experience
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to communicate effectively with donors, conduct registration, and perform confidential screening to determine eligibility while promoting a positive donor experience
- The candidates should be able to utilize their excellent people skills to provide donors with information, instruction, and advice regarding blood donation
- The candidates should be able to provide coaching and consultation to donor center staff, acting as a team lead for collection events
- The candidates should be able to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment, assisting with the collection of whole blood andapheresis blood components that save lives daily
- The candidates should be able to assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment at mobile events to ensure donor clinics are properly prepared for use
