Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving, manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in English
  • The candidates should be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and work alone or as part of a team
  • The candidates should have physical strength and stamina and work independently in a trustworthy and honest manner

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess a TSSA Second Class Engineer’s certificate

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to supervise the operation of the 4.6 MW Co-Gen Plant, boilers, and other equipment in the Central Heating Plant (CHP), ensuring safe and efficient operation
  • The candidates should be able to supervise all registered equipment under the CHP, such as refrigeration, compressors, and other related equipment
  • The candidates should be able to make necessary adjustments to control settings and equipment to maintain plant efficiency and dependable service
  • The candidates should participate in the daily maintenance of CHP equipment and provide relief duties on a rotating schedule
  • The candidates should be able to keep an up-to-date log of CHP operations, recording data to calculate boiler and plant operating efficiencies
  • The candidates should be able to write reports on equipment condition and recommend repair requirements to the Chief Operating Engineer
  • The candidates should be able to analyze data on boiler and heat pump log sheets, determine heating and cooling load requirements, and take action to start up and shut down equipment as needed to maintain maximum efficiency
  • The candidates should perform frequent tests on boiler water, make-up water, and condensate, adjusting chemical feed rates to ensure concentrations remain within recommended limits to prevent corrosion and maintain system integrity
