Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have at least three years of specialized professional experience shooting and editing French-language news stories

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be able to work various shift patterns, including overnights and weekends, often with unexpected overtime situation

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have proficient knowledge of Sony 500/700 ENG cameras,  proficient knowledge of Sony A7/FX6 cinema cameras
  • The candidates should possess technical knowledge and understanding of daily television and digital program production methods, including picture composition and single-camera lighting
  • The candidates should have knowledge generally gained through community college graduation in television arts or equivalent industry experience
  • The candidates should be able to edit recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems, such as Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro an excellent command of French, as the work environment is French-speaking
  • The candidates should have a passion for details, proficient knowledge of production resource equipment, routers, and recording gear at the Calgary station
  • The candidates should be resourceful in finding solutions to maintenance issues when specialized staff are not available
  • The candidates should have intermediate oral, written, and reading proficiency in English (BBB) and possess a valid driver’s licence

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to prepare, align, and set up field cameras to ensure optimum visual and technical quality based on prevailing conditions
  • The candidates should be able to light subjects or scenes and operate handheld cameras to compose and record program material
  • The candidates should be able to ensure all visual and audio materials meet technical and aesthetic standards suitable for editing, deliver recorded materials and perform basic editing
  • The candidates should be able to conduct basic maintenance on equipment while in the field, shoot still images for use on digital platforms
