Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a university degree
Experience: Candidates should have three to five years of experience, with at least three years involving work in broadcasting or a closely related industry, directly related to editorial chase or technical operations
Physical Requirements:
- The candidate should demonstrate excellent production skills, the ability to develop meaningful stories and build contacts, handle a variety of functions quickly and efficiently, and meet deadlines
- The candidate should be innovative, flexible, calm under pressure, and able to make quick decisions in a live radio environment
- The candidate should take direction well, work cooperatively, and also be a self-starter, excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The candidate should be comfortable interacting and presenting material live on-air, be innovative, with a proven ability to use sound creatively
- The candidate should be open to new ideas and approaches and strong organizational skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidate should have a strong background in live and live-to-tape radio broadcast engineering
- The candidate should have deep knowledge and understanding of Windsor-Essex, its residents, and the issues that matter most to them and possess solid journalistic skills
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to engineer and direct live or recorded programs in the studio or at remote locations, ensuring excellence in audio quality, troubleshoot and resolve problems that arise during live broadcasts
- The candidate should be able to ensure that equipment, facilities, program sources, and personnel are available to meet operational and program requirements
- The candidate should be able to set up and operate equipment to meet program and production goals
- The candidate should be able to play a key role in programming music, sound effects, and/or actuality that aligns with the show’s mandate
- The candidate should be able to pitch and produce story ideas and program content, including chasing, gathering and editing sound-rich audio, researching, and/or writing current affairs interview scripts
- The candidate should be able to present on-air as needed for the role, obtain studio crews, lines, and other technical or production resources required by the program on behalf of producers and freelancers
- The candidate should have strong organizational skills and the ability to perform multiple functions efficiently and quickly, work flexible hours, perform overtime, and travel
