Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have educational qualifications such as a Grade 12 education
Experience: Candidates should have three years’ experience in public transportation service delivery including two years customer service experience
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to organize tasks and work with minimal supervision
- The candidates should have the physical ability to perform the assigned duties
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should possess thorough knowledge of the City of Saskatoon geography and have thorough knowledge of scheduling and dispatching procedures
- The candidates should have knowledge of, and empathy with, the transportation needs of persons with disabilities and demonstrate the ability to participate effectively as a member of a team
- The candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills, both orally and in writing and demonstrate the ability to deal courteously and tactfully with the public
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to solve complex problems and manage conflicts in a positive and timely manner
- The candidates should maintain effective working relationships with the public, other professionals in various fields, co-workers, and civic officials and possess a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver’s License
- The candidates must provide a current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record
- The candidates should provide an acceptable current Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon the offer of employment
Responsibilities:
- The candidate should be able to provide safe, courteous, and accessible door-to-door shared ride special needs transportation service to persons with permanent or temporary physical or cognitive disabilities
- The candidate should be able to operate an accessible bus competently, safely, and courteously in various conditions and in accordance with all policies and procedures
- The candidate should be able to receive, interpret, and apply information and schedule direction from booking and scheduling staff
- The candidate should be able to collect fares from passengers and provide them with service and policy information
- The candidate should be able to assist passengers to and from the bus, boarding and exiting the vehicle, and ensure their safety throughout the process
- The candidate should be able to perform safety checks on the vehicle as required
- The candidate should be able to report all operational problems, such as delays and mechanical issues, according to established procedures
