Homes 4 Hope Canada Development Corporation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions for individuals and families in need. Specializing in affordable housing development and community revitalization projects, they work collaboratively with local governments, businesses, and community organizations to create safe and stable housing options. The candidates selected for the vacancy will be required to start the work as soon as possible.

Salary: $40,000 to $50,000 annually (To be negotiated) for 37.5 to 40 hours per week
Employment Type: Permanent employment Full time
Location: Edmonton, AB
Shifts: Day, On Call, Flexible Hours
Transportation information: Own transportation, Own vehicle and Valid driver’s licence
Target audience:
Males and Persons with mental health disabilities
Work setting: Mental health institution, facility or clinic and Community service organization
Supervision: 11-15 people

Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have a College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience or education in substance abuse/addiction counseling or education in community health services/liaison/counseling or education in mental and social health services and allied professions, or related fields
Experience: Candidates should have experience of 1 to less than 2 years
Computer and technology knowledge: MS Office
Security and safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driver’s validity licence check and Driving record check (abstract)

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have experience or education in personal and social adjustment and health, particularly in areas such as substance abuse, gambling, and behavior disorders
  • The candidates should be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work effectively under pressure, demonstrating a keen attention to detail
  • The candidates should be able to lift up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs) when necessary

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should prioritize client satisfaction and possess efficient interpersonal skills
  • The candidates should demonstrate excellent oral and written communication abilities and exhibit flexibility in their work approach
  • The candidates should show initiative in problem-solving and decision-making, demonstrate sound judgment in various situations, and be team players, capable of collaborating effectively with others
  • The candidates should uphold strong values and ethics, and be organized in their tasks and responsibilities

Candidate Status:

  • Candidate must be a Canadian Citizen or temporary or permanent resident of Canada
  • Candidate must have legal authorization (Work Permit) to work in Canada
  • If Candidates are unable to fulfill above mentioned requirements, don’t apply for the position

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to perform administrative and office activities and appraise clients’ needs or eligibility for specific services
  • The candidates should be able to implement life skills workshops, research techniques, and assess clients’ relevant skill strengths and development needs
  • The candidates should be able to develop, coordinate, and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, perform housekeeping activities, and resolve conflict situations
  • The candidates should be able to supervise activities of clients living in group homes and halfway houses, implement substance abuse treatment programs, and implement behavior management programs
  • The candidates should be able to conduct individual and group counseling sessions, liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs
  • The candidates should be able to accompany clients to appointments and social outings, interview inmates to assess adjustment problems, and develop specialized rehabilitation programs
  • The candidates should be able to assess offenders’ prospects for successful reintegration into the community, refer offenders to community and social services programs, and plan rehabilitation programs with offenders, establishing rules of conduct, goals, and objectives
