Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a hospital-based or other recognized Advanced Care Paramedic education/ program
Experience: Candidates should have recent experience providing pre-hospital emergency and non-emergency medical treatment and transportation
Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be willing to travel and be comfortable wearing a uniform
- The candidates should be prepared for physical effort, hazards, and discomfort as specified within the job description, including exposure to high-stress situations, sensitive situations, verbally and physically aggressive behavior
- The candidates should be capable of working in awkward positions indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- The candidates should be able to lift and transfer patients with assistance, with the ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate tact and diplomacy
- The candidates should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and in a team environment and exhibit patient advocacy
- The candidates should possess conflict management skills and have experience working with allied agencies (Police, Fire, and Health Care Professionals)
- The candidates should hold a valid ACP license from a paramedic governing body in Canada without conditions or restrictions. (A COPR certificate will be considered as equivalent at the time of hire, but the candidate will have one year to obtain a license in the southern jurisdiction)
- The candidates should undergo medical clearance and an RCMP check with a vulnerable sector check and should hold a class 4 Yukon driver’s license (or equivalent)
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to provide advanced pre-hospital care to residents and visitors to the Yukon
- The candidates should be able to utilize Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) education and Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
- The candidates should be able to provide this care in ground ambulance operations with Yukon EMS
