Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a College Diploma 2 years in Aerospace Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, General Machinist, Tool and Die Maker, or Mould Maker
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in any combination of machining, tool and die making, or mould making

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have an acceptable combination of equivalent experience and education and basic machinist tools and a bench-style toolbox
  • The candidates should have been gained through a role in co-operative education, or summer employment in a fabrication shop or facility
  • The candidates should have knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions associated with manual and powered or energized resources
  • The candidates should have demonstrated general machinist skills in one of the following areas: Milling or Turning
  • The candidates should have the ability to work from mechanical drawings, client specifications, and oral or written instructions
  • The candidates should have the ability to exercise judgment in determining the techniques and methods used
  • The candidates should have basic G-Code programming knowledge and skills, or a willingness to learn
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial work environment
  • The candidates should have excellent customer service and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including students, faculty, and staff
  • The candidates should have a demonstrated interest in broadening knowledge in techniques or tools and materials and be a motivated learner

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to design, modify, and fabricate custom machine parts and apply established standards when operating fabrication equipment
  • The candidates should be able to verify the accuracy of design requirements and handle minor equipment repairs
  • The candidates should be able to prepare, assemble, and set up material, equipment, and supplies according to the needs of the facility
  • The candidates should be able to check to ensure equipment is in working order and verify inventory
  • The candidates should be able to provide safety training and ensure adherence to safety procedures and standards
