Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English and French Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a bachelor’s degree
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ journalism experience

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should have the ability to analyze, synthesize, and think critically about complex issues, newsroom assignment experience
  • The candidates should be able to work well under pressure and independently with minimal supervision
  • The candidates should be able to comply with the requirements for maintaining a healthy work environment
  • The candidates should have knowledge and understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices, be legally entitled to work in Canada

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should possess or an equivalent combination of education and experience, an equivalent background in the field
  • The candidates should have extensive general knowledge and demonstrate curiosity across a broad range of topics
  • The candidates should have in-depth knowledge of Quebec, national, and international affairs
  • The candidates should have knowledge of newsroom logistics and workflow, possess excellent knowledge of French; advanced proficiency in English

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to consult, plan, assign, and coordinate newsgathering resources to cover the most relevant and impactful stories and events in compliance with CBC/Radio-Canada’s Journalistic Standards and Practices​
  • The candidates should be able to demonstrate initiative and sound editorial judgment in managing daily news assignments​
  • The candidates should be able to collaborate effectively with reporters, producers, and other editorial staff to ensure comprehensive and balanced news coverage​
  • The candidates should be able to oversee the allocation of resources, including personnel and equipment, to optimize news coverage efficiency​
  • The candidates should be able to monitor ongoing news events and adjust coverage plans as necessary to respond to breaking news and emerging stories​
  • The candidates should be able to maintain open communication with the Managing Editor, providing regular updates on coverage plans and editorial decisions​
