Requirements:
Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates need standard educational qualifications such as a Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or Intermediate or a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience
Experience: Candidates should have considerable experience in the relevant field
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have an eye for great content and know what works for digital, radio, and broadcast
- The candidates should have an aptitude for the technical requirements of bringing a show to air
- The candidates should be passionate about Canada and all of its diverse communities and cultures. Additionally, they should understand Edmonton’s unique place in the Alberta and Canadian landscape
- The candidates should have strong editorial judgment and know how to vet stories for different platforms
- The candidates should embrace innovation and new technology, constantly exploring new ideas and approaches to content and production
- The candidates should be excellent communicators, especially in pressure situations
- The candidates should be great teammates who work well on their own and as part of a team
- The candidates should be willing to work evenings and weekends when needed, as news never stops
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to take a lead role in ensuring that content is produced to meet audience needs for each platform
- The candidates should be able to take a lead role in vetting content to ensure it meets editorial standards
- The candidates should be able to write and edit stories for newscasts and digital platforms
- The candidates should be able to assign news stories as needed
- The candidates should be able to collaborate with editorial, digital, and operations teams in Edmonton and markets across Canada to ensure all content is produced and posted for each platform
- The candidates should be able to support and communicate effectively with field teams
- The candidates should be able to contribute to and help generate story ideas and pitches
- The candidates should be able to complete and vet all production elements needed for air, including scripts, fonts, graphics, outcues, etc.
