Physical Requirements:
- The candidates should be available to work shifts, away from home on various work cycles, and occasional overtime
- The candidates should have the ability to work outdoors in various types of weather and environmental conditions, involving physical work and perform repetitive physical activities
- The candidates should have the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds (22 kg) frequently and up to 70 pounds (32 kg) occasionally and good eye-hand coordination and grasping skills
Other Requirements:
- The candidates should have experience in similar working conditions, a or equivalent General Education Diploma (GED) and a valid Driver’s License
- The candidates should have knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word and collaborate with others and share information
- The candidates should communicate with impact, set direction and inspire others and lead by example for the safety and security of all
- The candidates should consider ESG principles in all operations, welding skills and knowledge of signals or Rail Operating Rules
Responsibilities:
- The candidates should be able to inspect and maintain track structure and right-of-way according to CN’s specifications and supervise and develop track forces to ensure quality maintenance and safe work performance
- The candidates should be able to inspect track work upon completion and approve tracks for service and maintain train operating restrictions in alignment with track standards and implement safety directives effectively
- The candidates should be able to assist in the development of safety programs and goals and remove and replace defective ties, rails, spikes, and anchors and correct deviations in track surface, alignment, and gauge
- The candidates should be able to install and repair street and railroad crossings and assist in the replacement and repair of power-operated and help unload ballast and distribute track material and sort used track material for loading, which may be done manually
- The candidates should be able to clear brush, vegetation, snow, and litter from railroad right-of-way, establish and maintain proper drainage and clean up work sites after completion of tasks
- The candidates should be able to comply with track safety standards, Operating Rules, and Safe Work Procedures and complete work reports, material inventory records, and inspection reports accurately
