Requirements:

Languages: Candidates must have knowledge of the English Language
Education: Candidates should have completion of a high school diploma
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment

Physical Requirements:

  • The candidates should be available to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays in all weather conditions
  • The candidates should demonstrate leadership presence with a strong commitment to career advancement
  • The candidates should have strong troubleshooting skills to identify root causes and resolve complex issues
  • The candidates should demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to changing task priorities and work situations

Other Requirements:

  • The candidates should have previous railway experience as a conductor, and a Locomotive Engineer qualification
  • The candidates should have excellent communication skills to provide clear and concise instructions, including over radio communication
  • The candidates should be able to read and understand safety instructions, operating rules, regulations, and other written materials in English and general equivalency diploma
  • The candidates should possess a valid driver’s license and be proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel

Responsibilities:

  • The candidates should be able to coordinate all train movements within the yard and mainline through active supervision of personnel and communication across departments, ensuring compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and Operating Plan
  • The candidates should be able to coordinate and standardize processes related to the operating plan, arrival, classification, building, inspecting, and dispatching of trains
  • The candidates should be able to provide leadership accountability for inputs and outputs of safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics
  • The candidates should be able to effectively lead Trains and Engines operating employees, acting as a safety leader through active observations and discussions about rule compliance, and implementing preventative measures through staff engagement
  • The candidates should be able to occasionally operate trains and maintain certifications and licenses Canadian Rail Operating Rules, Engineer as per industry regulations and assist in crew transportation to and from trains
